Salary Range: $112,733 - $156,052

The City of Alabaster, continually recognized as one of the safest cities in Alabama, is the largest city in Shelby County and home to one of the state’s elite school systems. Following the retirement of our standing Fire Chief, the Alabaster Fire Department is seeking a proven and visionary leader to guide the department into the future within a Mayor/Council form of government.

Position Overview

Qualifications
Bachelor's degree required (Fire Science or related field preferred)
Ten (10) years of management experience in fire service, fire safety, prevention, suppression methods, equipment, and supplies, or a related field, or any equivalent combination of education and experience.
Must be certified as a Firefighter and by the Alabama Fire College and Personnel Standards Commission and possess an active EMT-Paramedic license from the Alabama Department of Public Health.
Demonstrated progressive supervisory/management experience with responsibilities in operations, HR, legal, discipline, hiring, and budget.
