Salary Structure: Fire Recruit: Salary Range- $17.66 per hour starting rate (2704 annual hours)
Firefighter: $19.49 per hour starting rate (2704 annual hours) Firefighter Paramedic: $21.47 per hour starting rate (2704 annual hours)

FIREFIGHTER SELECTION PROCESS: All applications will be reviewed to ensure minimum qualifications have been met. Those meeting the minimum qualifications will be invited to complete the written exam administered by Human Resources and a physical abilities test administered by Alabaster Fire Department. Candidates who successfully pass both the written exam and physical ability test will be scheduled for an interview before a panel of representatives from the Alabaster Fire Department. Apply today!

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum age 18; High School Diploma or GED; Must possess and maintain a valid Alabama Driver’s License. Must obtain and maintain an Alabama Department of Public Health Office of EMS Emergency Medical Technician - Paramedic license within three years of employment.
A current Candidate Physical Ability Test (CPAT) certificate that is valid for a period of not less than 6 months and maintained until completion of Firefighter I/II. If applicant does not have CPAT, candidate may participate in the testing process; however, must obtain CPAT prior to an offer being extended if applicable.
Must obtain and maintain certification as a Firefighter I/II by the Alabama Fire College and Personnel Standards Commission within one year of employment and become licensed paramedic within 3 years of employment.
