Park & Recreation – Groundskeeping Internship

Pay: $13.50/hour

Hours: Up to 30 hours per week (varies; may include weekdays, weekends, and events)

The City of Alabaster is seeking a summer groundskeeping intern to assist with the maintenance and upkeep of parks, facilities, and open spaces. This role helps ensure safe, clean, and welcoming environments for public use.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist with grounds maintenance and landscaping

• Support facility repairs and general upkeep

• Help maintain cleanliness of parks and recreational areas

• Assist during events as needed

Physical & Environmental Requirements:

• Frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and use of tools

• Ability to lift up to 25 lbs frequently and 50 lbs occasionally

• Outdoor work in varying weather conditions (heat and cold)

• Exposure to animals, equipment, fumes, chemicals, and loud noise

• Vision abilities include close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth perception
