ANIMAL CONTROL OFFICER $22.10 - $30.59 per hour (depending on experience)
The City of Alabaster is seeking a dependable, compassionate individual with sound judgment and strong communication skills to serve as an Animal Control Officer. This position enforces animal control ordinances and applicable laws and assists residents with animal concerns and complaints. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Enforce applicable animal control laws, codes, and ordinances.
Respond to reports of suspected animal abuse, animal bites, stray or nuisance animals, wild or dangerous animals, and injured or deceased animals.
Operate, clean, and maintain animal control vehicles, catchpoles, traps, nets, and related equipment.
Prepare accurate reports, correspondence, forms, depositions, and other documentation; maintain departmental records.
Provide information and assistance to residents by telephone and in person, and coordinate with law enforcement, public health, medical, and veterinary professionals.
Maintain availability by radio or telephone and respond to emergency requests as required.
Maintain regular, predictable attendance and perform other related duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or GED.
Valid Alabama driver’s license and a good driving record.
Ability to obtain and maintain certification through the National Animal Control Association.
